TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS  

  • Vinska vigred (on the third weekend in May in the old town core in Metlika): the event represents the greatest viticultural tourist manifestation in Slovenia: offers wine tasting of prized wines, various exhibitions, performances of numerous folklore groups, singing groups and bands.
  • Jurjevanje (on the third weekend in June in Črnomelj): is the oldest folklore festival in Slovenia. Rich cultural programme introduces folklore groups from Bela krajina, Slovenia and abroad, who represent a tiny part of their cultural heritage through songs, dances and music.
  • Semiška ohcet (on the third weekend in July in Semič): on this event couples get married according to costume which is typical for this region.
